Bat Attack!

Here it is:

It goes from the top of my shoulder to my elbow, and wraps almost 3/4 of the way around my arm. All told, it took about 6 hours. The first 4 hours were no problem, but then my blood sugar crashed, I got cold and clammy and light headed and had to lie down for a few minutes. Nate got me some juice, which helped, but I had almost uncontrollable shakes for the last 2 hours or so. The last two hours were torture. Really really painful. But totally worth it. I'm extremely happy with everything, and so glad that I went with Nate as my artist. My little fruitbat looks like a painting, and the shading and detail are sublime.

Also, he has two awesome hairless cats named Chicken and Steve. Steve sat on my lap for a while and kept me company.

Now I'm looking forward to going home and getting back to my regular routine of writing and photography. :)

Wowza! Man, that is indeed some mighty beautiful ink. But what an ordeal to suffer for your art. Impressive motivation there.

Ok, so you absolutely *have* to start reading the Christopher Moore books in which a fruit bat (I forget his name, but it's Cuban) is a recurring featured character.

Hmm...is it really Moore?

Not Garcia, not Hiaasen...nope, gotta be Moore.

"The Stupidest Angel" is the one I read most recently (and recommended to you) but that's not the one where the bat first appears. "The Lust Lizard of Melancholy Cove" maybe?

I'll do a little research and get back to you!

Those pics are gorgeous, by the way -- and welcome home :-)

STILL only one comment? What's *wrong* with your people, GH?! Have you no serious ink lovers in your personal posse??

Gasoline Hobo held forth thusly...

carroll: no, they love it! they're just all too busy getting their own tats (marmots and voles and weasels and things).

they're also trying to learn how to crip walk.

if it wasn't for that, they'd be all up in here, no worries.
