Potato Chip Mobile!

Mark Frauenfelder over at BoingBoing has posted some pictures he took with his cell. One of them is of a horrible 70's book called "Don't Throw it Away!", and includes something that looks frighteningly like a potato chip mobile.
For some reason, the phrase "Potato Chip Mobile" causes me to giggle uncontrollably. It's right up there with "Origami Boulder".

what's the other thing?? a snail??
that other hanging thing looks like two diaphragms.....
ha! according to the blowup of the photo, the first thing is a "papier mache turtle". i can't really tell what it was originally, though, so i'm going to assume it was a rock. because i think it would be awesome to papier mache a rock to look like a turtle. or at least, a monstrous green-brown/gold approximation thereof.
and the second one is a "salad bowl bird feeder". i like your idea better. and i'm not going to make the joke that's in my head right now.
giggle giggle! probably have same joke in mine!1! cool book! hours of fun on just one page alone. I love to look at books from the seventies! We have one all about picniking. Photos are great!!!
I think it's the mental image of someone sitting there with a bag of potato chips and a needle and thread, carefully constructing this lovely craft work. Yeah, that's what makes me giggle.
That and the thought of encountering one in some remote Mom and Pop restaurant somewhere.
